Junkie XL Returns To Score “Furiosa”

Warner Bros. Pictures

Composer Tom Holkenborg, aka Junkie XL, will reunite with his “Mad Max: Fury Road” director George Miller for the next ‘Max’ installment “Furiosa”.

Miller revealed the news at Cannes where his newest work “3000 Years of Longing” debuted. Holkenborg also scored that film which has been guaranteed a wide theatrical release by MGM at the end of August.

Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II star in “Furiosa,” a prequel based on Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiosa character with Taylor-Joy taking on the role. Miller is set to direct, co-write and produce alongside Doug Mitchell.

Miller recently spoke with Deadline about how he never talks much about his films prior to release, keeping things largely under wraps as he believes when he shares too much early on he jinxes it:

“It has happened several times. I’ve been sacked off a film – that happened with Contact and I was very enthusiastic about that. Then, we were very keen to do Justice League back around that time, and there were already photographs and publicity out, and then that fell away. I’m not saying that’s what jinxed it, but I think it’s just better to finish the film and offer it to audiences; to let them take on the story or not.”

“Three Thousand Years of Longing” opens August 31st whilst “Furiosa” is currently doing early second unit photography ahead of its main shoot. It’s currently targeting a May 24th 2024 release.
