The return of Netflix’s flagship original series “Stranger Things” this past Friday saw some big records broken.
According to the streamer, this first volume of the fourth season of “Stranger Things” logged the biggest premiere weekend ever for a Netflix original series with 286.79 million hours viewed.
That far surpasses the previous record of 193 million that tuned into the second season of “Bridgerton”. “Stranger Things” also reached #1 in 83 countries, setting another premiere weekend record.
As a result of this, previous seasons of the coming-of-age drama all landed in the Netflix weekly Top 10 for English-language series.
The show has also been a blessing for its musicians with Kate Bush’s entire back catalog seeing an increase of more than 1,600% in global streams on Spotify, whilst her song “Running Up That Hill” went up by more than 8,700% globally. Musical Youth’s “Pass the Dutchie” also jumped up with a 1,030% increase.
