What’s Arriving On Screens: June 2022

Here we continue a new monthly section that will offer a quick go-to list of what’s coming to cinemas, VOD & SVOD services, and gaming platforms over the coming weeks.

This isn’t a complete list, rather it’s one showcasing the major and some minor titles of note. The titles are separated by date and ordered with films & film rentals first, then TV, then games.

June has Summer film season in full bloom with Universal’s dinosaur juggernaut “Jurassic World: Dominion,” the “Toy Story” adjacent Pixar feature “Lightyear,” David Cronenberg’s body horror return in “Crimes of the Future,” Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” biopic, the Chris Hemsworth-led “Spiderhead,” Scott Derrickson’s “The Black Phone” and several Sundance features all set to debut.

TV wise there are numerous major launches including new seasons of “The Boys,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “The Umbrella Academy,” “Westworld,” “Evil,” “For All Mankind,” “The Chi,” “Flatbush Misdemeanours,” “P-Valley” and “Physical,” along with a revival of “Borgen,” and a reboot of “Queer as Folk”.

That’s hardly all though as we’re also getting the final seasons of “The Orville,” “Peaky Blinders,” “Love, Victor,” “Animal Kingdom,” “Endeavor,” “Motherland: Fort Salem” and “Roswell, New Mexico”.

On the new TV front there’s Jeff Bridges going John Wick in FX’s “The Old Man,” Marvel’s young-adult skewing “Ms. Marvel,” Netflix’s “Money Heist: Korea” reimagining, Oliver Assayas remaking his own “Irma Vep” as an HBO series, the Rowan Atkinson-led “Man vs. Bee,” Disney’s “Big Hero 6” spin-off series “Baymax,” the dark mystery drama “Dark Winds,” and a “South Park: The Streaming Wars” special.

The gaming front is quiet in June with the biggest titles being the “Until Dawn” developers’ new title “The Quarry,” the remaster collection “Sonic Origins,” the mobile title “Diablo Immortal,” the “Capcom Fighting Collection” and “Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes”.
